Bitmain introduced Antminer L3 series at the end of 2016, which adopted the self-developed Litecoin chip BM1485. Antminer L3 series include three versions up to now: Antminer L3 (Hashrate 250m/ Power 400w), Antminer L3+ (Hashrate 500m/ Power 800w), Antminer L3++ (Hashrate 580m/Power 942w).

Litecoin miner is also known as Scrypt miner. Apart from Litecoin mining, it’s suitable for any Scrypt-based cryptocurrency.

This time, we conduct our evaluation on the latest version of Antminer L3++.

Unpacking Photos

Antminer L3++ is packed in five-layer industrial carton with complete logistics warehousing label, product barcode and brand logo.

Installation and Test

The installation and setting-up of Antminer L3++ is similar to that of other Bitmain models, so there’s no need to describe in detail here. Please refer to our guidance “ANTMINER GENERAL MINING GUIDE” at https://www.eastshore.xyz/tutorial-general-mining-guide-troubleshoot-for-antminer-models/

Once the setup is completed, the miner starts running tens of seconds later. The real-time status is shown on the “Miner Status” page.

Performance Test

The test uses Antminer APW3-12-1600-B2 power supply, whose conversion rate is as high as 93.5%. The indoor noise in this test is about 39dB, the indoor temperature is about 26℃ in the day and about 20℃at night.

With default frequency of 450 and long-term operation, the average hashrate is about 593M, whose curve is stable without obvious fluctuations.

The tested power is 1040W.

Overclocking concept: Each miner is slightly different from each other based on their own qualities, raise two to three gears every time on the premise of stable operation. In our test, the default frequency is 450, raise third gears to 469.

The average hashrate after long-term operation is about 610M.

In terms of noise, during normal operation when fan speed in daytime is about 4300 rpm, the measured noise about 20cm away from the miner is abut 83dB.

The default setting of fan speed is automatically adjusted based on ambient temperature. During normal operation when the temperature is low at night, the fan speed drops to about 3900 rpm, and the measured noise about 20cm away is about 80dB.

In terms of temperature, when the miner is under normal and stable running, the chip temperature on the “Miner Status” page is 50-58℃.

The measured temperature at air inlet is 30℃.

Summary

  • Antminer Litecoin L3++ is the optimized and upgraded version of L3+, and the hashrate of single miner is increased by about 90M.
  • Long-term of stable operation and the measured average hashrate is about 593M, the power is 1040w.
  • With certain overclocking space (depending on actual condition of every miner).
  • Applicable to all cryptocurrencies with Scrypt algorithm.
  • A little noisy, but it’s common for large hashrate miners nowadays.
  • Good heat dissipation, small temperature difference on the front and rear, it’s conducive to long-term stable operation.
  • Compact and sturdy design makes it easy to operate and largely established in mining farms.
